Patricia Kness
About Patricia Kness
"Studying art is a life-long adventure. I vividly remember declaring, in the third grade, that I would be an artist."
Patricia began her formal training at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minnesota, followed by studying at The Minneapolis School of Art and Design. Patricia and her husband, Lee, headed south to San Antonio in 1986 where Patricia continued her trade on the prestigious River Walk where she had both a studio and gallery. With a desire to further her formal training, Patricia ventured to the Philadelphia area where she studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Studying with many fine artists in workshops across the nation has also contributed to her skill as an artist. Now living in her home state of Minnesota, Patricia enjoys her studio at the Savage Art Studios, in Savage, Minnesota. You can find her teaching a workshop entitled "Painting the Floral Still Life--Loose and Lively" and her weekly still life classes. Students are mentored by her hands-on approach and her philosophy on painting. She stresses getting the gesture, rhythm, and mood of the painting and getting it quickly. "In landscape the light changes, in portraiture the model moves, and in a floral still life the flowers wilt." Besides, she says, "A quickly painted painting reflects enthusiasm and energy while tapping into the soul of the artist."
